Lurch Quad Memories

This memory is short, but vivid for the first few seconds of the battle. And yes, it was a battle.

When we opened the door to Gore’s room, he was standing, crouched on the top bunk in his underwear (white briefs to be specific.)

While hollering something to the effect of us fish finally growing enough hair to try and quad him and swearing we didn’t have the balls to complete the mission, he dove onto the group of us.

The fish that took the brunt of the first leap turned with a look of terror. If my memory is not completely failing, I believe it was Cunningham. I know we got it done, but getting him down three flights of stairs and stretched is a blur of action.

At formation that morning, he was actually proud of us and I believe thankful for the opportunity.
He was a strange person, as evidenced by the later application of a canoe paddle to three of us for visiting a Maggie. Animal still has the paddle, handed down graciously and proudly.
